4×4 Self-Drive Chobe National Park, Chobe River Botswana

Self-driving Chobe National Park is an incredible wilderness experience requiring a high-clearance 4×4, self-recovery gear, and advanced campsite bookings. The easiest entry is the Sedudu Gate near Kasane for the Chobe Riverfront, while Savuti and Linyanti feature deep sand and remote, challenging bush tracks.

Chobe National Park is home to a large and changing migratory population of more than 50 000 elephants. Located in the extreme north east of Botswana, it is bounded by the massive Chobe River to the north.

The second largest national park in Botswana, it comprises four unique ecosystems: the Savuti Channel in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the northwest; the desert hinterland in between; and Serondela in the extreme northeast with rich plains and heavy woods. This range of ecosystems is home to an incredible variety of African animals. You are likely to see lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, impala, waterbuck, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and warthog in addition to Chobe’s enormous pachyderm herds. Chobe is also famous for its spectacular riverboat safaris, making it a must-see location for every keen safari-goer.
